Tips for using the Sound Therapy Ultra Light

The new Sound Therapy Ultra Light players can take a bit of getting used to, especially as there is no digital display. Here are some tips for using and caring for your Ultra Light player.

Warning: Never plug your Ultra Light into a computer or try to copy your albums onto an MP3 player or any other format. This is because they are recorded with special proprietary technology and if you try to duplicate them you will lose the value of the program. You also risk corrupting your files and voiding your warranty if you plug your Ultra Light into a computer.

Charging the Ultra Light

The correct way to fully charge your Ultra Light unit is:

  1. Plug the charger into the wall and switch it on. A red light will display on the charger to show it is functioning.
  2. Turn the Ultra Light ON. If it is not full discharged, a blue light should come on.
  3. Plug the Ultra Light into the charger. The light on the Ultra Light player will flash red.

Troubleshooting

If the Ultra Light wont play, or plays for a few seconds/minutes and then stops, it may need recharging (see the instructions above), or it may be "stuck" between the charge mode and play mode, in which case a simple reset should fix it (in the same way that rebooting your computer often solves any problems!)

It may take a couple of tries for the player to re-set itself.

Some methods to reset the player include:

  • Turn the unit off and on again by sliding the hard switch inside the ear piece, then wait for 20-30 seconds. When the blue light goes off, the unit should be playing.
  • Press pause. Is the light flashing? If so, press pause again and the music should start. If the light isn't flashing, you should be able to hear the music. If you can't hear the music, try switching it off and on again, and toggle the play / pause button a few more times.
  • Advance the track or raise the volume by pressing he front button on the bottom of the right ear piece. Sometimes this will re-start the player if it needs resetting.
  • Plug the charger into the wall, switch it on, plug the Ultra Light into the charger and switch it OFF - ON - OFF - ON a couple of times.

How to care for your Ultra Light battery

A lithium-ion battery provides approximately 300-500 recharge cycles and typically lasts about 2 to 3 years. This varies according to many factors such as useage patterns and how the battery is treated and stored.

  • Recharge it regularly. As soon as your player stops, recharge it.
  • Store it with about 40% charge left. As a rule of thumb, when it is fully charged, you should get 8-10 hours of listening time, so charge it again after 5-6 hours of listening.
  • Let it fully discharge about once a month, or after about 30 uses.
  • Keep it cool - even the fridge is a good option for storing your Ultra Light if its protected from moisture and is not below freezing

Safety tips for your Ultra Light lithium-ion battery

  • Don't leave your Ultra Light in a hot place such as a hot car or near a heater or other heat source, including lying in direct sunshine. Doing so may cause the battery to generate heat, rupture, or ignite. Exposing the battery to heat may also result in a loss of performance and a shortened life expectancy.
  • Do not carry or store the batteries with metal objects such as necklaces or hairpins.
  • Do not pierce the battery by striking with nails or a hammer or place under high pressure or subject it to strong impacts or shocks.
  • Do not allow the battery to get wet or expose it to water or salt water.
